The key to a good pair of shoes lies in the sole.
When choosing shoes, the first thing everyone looks at is the appearance of the shoes. The overall look and color matching of a pair of shoes are eye-catching. However, a beautiful appearance can also mislead people into making choices, thinking that buying a pair of good-looking shoes means they are good shoes. In fact, many people do not know that a good pair of shoes must have a good sole...
The foot is the base of the human body, just like the foundation of a house. If the foundation is unstable, it can lead to poor structural integrity of the house. The plantar fascia tissue bears the weight and creates a pulling force that separates the metatarsals from the calcaneus, and it provides the necessary torque, elasticity, and absorbs the reaction force from the ground during various activities. From the perspective of human biomechanics, excessive external rotation of the foot's lower joint can lead to a low arch and flat feet, which in turn pulls on the plantar fascia, causing inflammation.
The main causes of plantar fasciitis: Abnormal internal structure of the foot caused by injury or improper footwear, loose foot joints, excessive activity, and excessive body weight leading to increased load on the foot joints. Prolonged standing and sitting can cause tightness in the calf muscles and hamstrings, tight and short Achilles tendons, reduced fat pads under the heel due to aging, heel bone spurs, and pain associated with plantar fasciitis such as calf pain, knee pain, and lower back pain. Walking on sharp health paths, frequently wearing sandals and flip-flops, prolonged standing, walking, being overweight, wearing high heels, having high arches, flat feet, and other diseases can cause deformities in the foot bones.
How to prevent and treat: A female university student in her 20s in Taiwan developed plantar fasciitis in her right foot after wearing hard-soled canvas shoes for several consecutive days. It was suspected that the sole was too hard and thin, leading to inflammation, and she also ruptured it after stepping on a sharp object, causing pain so severe that she could not walk.
Doctors point out that frequently wearing shoes with high heels or shoes with thin, hard soles can easily lead to inflammation and rupture of the plantar fascia, delaying treatment and potentially causing early degeneration of the foot joints. Therefore, judging a good pair of shoes is not just about looking at their appearance; it is important to see if they fit your feet and if they are comfortable to wear. Avoid choosing shoes with overly hard soles; soft soles can reduce the impact force and better protect your feet. This is the standard for judging a good pair of shoes.
